I hope my Polaroids puncture the narratives of progressive industrial development by documenting what I call waste | natures that coagulate in these urban areas. Although I’m hesitant to even settle on this title description since I don’t want to assume the places, spaces, sites to which I refer are stable entities or are the predetermined climaxes of industrial modernity. That’s to say, ecological degradation is not partisan and parish of this cityscape. However problematic titles aside, the waste or wasteful natures I want to document refer to the places, spaces, sites that contain abandoned human ecologies, where urban weeds now flourish unapproved but whose hardy existences are vital for sustaining local wildlife and mitigating petronaut pollution.
